HANGAR 8 is Localized into 11 Languages

Welcome to my third devlog for HANGAR 8 😸

My goal was to make my game accessible to as many people as possible, and the Godot Engine's robust localization system made that achievable. From the very beginning, I prioritized localization as a key feature in development. I'm particularly excited about the possibility of reaching more Japanese players, especially since 'The Exit 8' - a significant inspiration for my game - originates from Japan. It would mean a lot to see my game enjoyed in the country that influenced its creation!

There's one major challenge, though: I don’t speak any other languages fluently. Normally, this would be solved by hiring a localization company, but as a solo indie developer, that's not an option for me. To tackle this, I created a Google Sheets spreadsheet and set up a formula to use Google Translate to automatically translate my native language - admittedly, a bit broken English at times - into other languages. I then invested in a single month of ChatGPT to refine these translations using the latest version of the AI! Now, my game is translated into 11 different languages! While I'm aware that the translation quality might not match that of professional localization, I hope it’s good enough for more people to enjoy my first game.
