Looping Level Logic
Hello there! Welcome to my fourth devlog for HANGAR 8 😸
The main mechanic of any "The Exit 8" like game is the looping corridor, and how you determine if you go up or down a level. I chose to replicate the mechanic of my inspiration game, and go forward if there is no anomaly, while going back if there is. To make it unique, I decided to have the player instead have to go through a different door completely when they got to the final level of the game, level 8.
While it seemed pretty simple and straight forward to me at first, when I actually go to writing the GDscript in Godot, I quickly found out I was struggling with how the design of how the level logic should work. I remembered when a developer friend of mine recommended an app to me for game design, and in order to help myself with my design problem, I created a mind map using X Mind.
I also realized that this mind map I created could help as a sort of tutorial for how the game works - so here is my nerdy chart, I hope you like it!
